Weather conditions greatly influenced the event yet again. With strong and changeable winds it seemed almost impossible to hold a regular and fair competition. Chances gained or chances lost - it's just yet another thrilling aspect of ski jumping. And that's why Ammann emerged as the winner, Harri Olli and Emmanuel Chedal reached the podium and Gregor Schlierenzauer finished 4th after his amazing jump of 150.5 meters, unfortunately for him - with a fall.
Switzerland's ski star presented top shape despite folly weather achieving 146.0 meters in the opening leg and 129.5 in the second round. It was surely a great day for the Germans with Pascal Bodmer's surprise 5th spot, Andreas Wank's 9th and Michael Uhrmann finishing 10th. Truly historical moment happened in the team of Poland as they managed to put four of their athletes in the top-15 of today' event (Stoch – 7th, Malysz – 8th, Mietus – 12th and Bachleda – 15th).
Next competitions remain uncertain after Harrachov suffering serious organizational problems. The decision has just arrived that the Czech installment of this year’s World Cup series will be called off due to lack of snow. The official statement on whether Engelberg will host one additional competition is to be announced on Wednesday. Meanwhile, ski jumpers will enjoy one weekend of considerable freedom, highly practical bearing in mind the forthcoming Four Hills Tournament followed by ski flying in Tauplitz/Bad Mitterndorf at the beginning of January 2010.
